Challenge

When traveling, especially in a foreign country, it’s often overwhelming to find the best places to visit. You can get lost in an endless sea of blogs, travel guides, and review sites, each with conflicting information. I’ve experienced this frustration firsthand while traveling. Finding a reliable and consolidated source of information felt like searching for a needle in a haystack.

According to a recent travel survey, over 65% of tourists say they struggle to find reliable information on local attractions and restaurants when traveling. 40% of travelers waste nearly 2 hours per day searching for places to visit or eat, which takes away valuable time they could spend enjoying their trip.

This inspired me to create SM-Travel, an app that simplifies the travel experience. I wanted it to become a one-stop solution for discovering hotels, restaurants, and attractions, all in one place. My goal was to provide real-time, accurate information and an interactive map to help users find and navigate these places effortlessly.

Solution

Centralized Information Instead of wasting hours browsing multiple websites, travelers can search for everything they need in one app:

Hotels Restaurants Attractions Location maps Real-Time Data Integration The app pulls accurate and updated information from reliable third-party sources such as Google Places API and Travel Advisor API, ensuring users always have access to the latest details on:

Descriptions, images, and pricing. Location, operating hours, and contact details. Interactive Map The built-in interactive map allows users to:

Visualize nearby attractions and hotels. Get real-time directions through Google Maps. Discover hidden gems around their current location. User-Centric Design The app focuses on usability and simplicity:

Search by keyword or city name (e.g., "Shibuya" or "Kyoto") to get filtered results instantly. Mobile-first design ensures the app works seamlessly on both Android and iOS devices. Personalized Experience Travelers can save favorite locations and receive tailored recommendations for top-rated attractions and restaurants in their area.

Future-Ready Features Plans for future improvements include:

Offline support, so users can access recently viewed content even without an internet connection. User reviews for an even more personalized experience. Booking Integration to reserve hotels and attractions directly from the app.
